What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is created in 1989 for young people who want to improve their participation and interest in the fields of technology. FIRST also gives an opportunity for young people who want to learn more about engineering, mathematics and science.

FIRST is not only about robots. It has been proven that participating in FIRST has a good effect on students and these students become more interested in jobs that are related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields. FIRST helps these students to be successful in their careers.

Many companies from specific fields such as NASA, Microsoft, IBM, National Instruments, Motorola, Boston Scientific, Chrysler Foundation, General Motors and Johnson & Johnson support FIRST and its goals.

What is FRC?

FRC, abbreviation for “First Robotics Championship, is also called a “mind sport” because of being a mixture of sports, science and technology. Participants have said that FRC is “the hardest and the most entertaining thing you can ever see”. Teams which consist of at least 20 members have to collect money, create a brand value for themselves, do a lot of team work and design and program a robot. FRC is the right place for students who want to learn the most about the fundamentals of engineering. Voluntary professional mentors spend their time and abilities for the improvement of teams. Finally, the rough season ends with the FIRST Championship. programs/frc
